Osama Bin Laden By Vanessa

Osama Bin Laden Killed by US Navy Seals

Osama Bin Laden was killed in a gun fight in Pakistan just a few days ago. The Terrorist responsible for many attacks against America and many other countries around the world was shot in the head twice by US Navy Seals.
Americans formed what seemed like flash mobs in Times Square to celebrate the death of this man. Singing, “We Are the Champions”, “The Star Spangled Banner”, and “Osama, Osama, hey, hey, hey, goodbye”, on the white house steps as well.
This is why other countries hate us. I mean; come on people, cheering about another human being’s death is not an acceptable thing to do. I personally believe that with a an that knows so much, they should not have killed him at all, but taken him into custody and studied him. Maybe the man was a sociopath, one who feels no empathy. Yes, he did kill thousands of people, but nonetheless, it is extremely disrespectful to celebrate ones death. Al Qaeda will strike back against Bin Laden’s death. Though police are patrolling the areas of concern, we won’t be able to shield the citizens from a major bomb that Al Qaeda decides to drop on us because we shot their leader in the head.
Killing Bin Laden is not the smartest thing the government has done.

Osama Bin Laden Is Dead

I think that Osama bin Laden did deserve to die or at least be imprisoned but the intense celebration of his death is unnecessary and cruel in some sense. His burial at sea is against Muslim tradition and I feel that the Navy Seals should have at least returned the body back to the people in Pakistan.

Apparently Bin Laden did not use his wife as a shield but she jumped in front of him and she was shot in the leg. He was killed in a double tap on the left side of his face.

I think it is disturbing that Americans were celebrating Bin Laden’s death like it was a holiday. Also his son was killed in the bombing of the compound.

Apparently Osama was the son of Saudi Elite who was on a campaign to recreate a seventh century Muslim empire. With the attacks on the Twin Towers and the Pentagon he was elevated the level of evil in my eyes and many others

I really think that in Laden did deserve to die or at least be imprisoned but the intense celebration of his death is unnecessary and ridiculous and cruel

Osama Bin Laden By Ruben

The government had suspected this sight (or house) around August since they were concerned that Osama was living on a mansion because the mansion didn’t have internet or a phone line and had guards so the government suspected this mansion.
The attack was went inside a house in Pakistan witch found Osama inside and killed him.
Saturday April 30th but the government confirmed Osama’s death by taking a DNA sample. The government told everyone that Osama was dead last Sunday May 1st.
Osama was shot in the head the gun fight was about 40 minutes long in the Osama Bin Laden had been killed this Sunday. The navy S.E.A.L. and the CIA end Osama was willed with his brother and 2 of his couriers and two wounded also his wife got shot in the leg since she went in front of Osama to shield him since Osama didn’t have his weapon.
Osama was buried at sea since that’s the tradition of the Muslim people. When the people of the United States found out you could hear cheering in the streets and people celebrating. I’m glad Osama is dead because he wont harm our country but I think its wrong for people to cheer in the streets because he is still a person in other words people are laughing and celebrating the death of a person and I think that’s wrong and makes the U.S look bad. Also “Al-Qaeda” might get really mad for his leaders death and plan a big attack for the U.S.

America has been celebrating Bin Laden’s death. Although in my opinion he deserved to die, but I think we celebrated too much. I think we shouldn’t be celebrating so much because people that liked him in Al-Qaeda organization might want to finish what he started.

Three thousand people died during 9-11. Bin Laden’s men hijacked four planes. Killed the pilot’s and crashed the plane into the twin towers. The towers collapsed. Then he bragged about what he did. All the people in the towers and in the planes, even fire fighters trying to save the people, all died.

Obama ordered some of America’s soldiers to go to Pakistan and get him dead or alive. There was gun shooting, and fortunately none of our people got injured.

The news did say that he grabbed his wife and used her as a shield. But now they are saying that she stepped in front of him and got shoot in the leg. Bin Laden had more than one wife.

Now he is dead and I think America can now go to sleep and know that we are safer than before.

Engine Failure by Hannah McLaughlin

Engine Failure
By: Hannah McLaughlin

Engine failure in any type of vehicle can be deadly, especially in airplanes. In larger jets and airlines, hundreds of people can be injured or killed, not to mention the millions of dollars worth in damage.

“The precautionary engine shutdowns were dealt with in accordance with the aircraft checklists. Total thrust to maintain flight was never a problem in the airplanes I flew, so the checklist dealt with the degradation caused by systems losses on the engine that was shut down. Those systems typically included generators and hydraulic pumps. Even if a system was totally lost, aircraft have backup or emergency systems allowing a safe return if the checklist procedures are followed,” Mark Holmes, retired Air force pilot, and Colson and Colson pilot said.

“There are several things that can cause engine failure. Most common is running out of fuel then engine fatigue, FOD foreign object debris (something gets sucked in to the engine like a screw, rocks and other small items) and lastly is bird strikes. Some problems an engine failure can cause are loss of electrical power, hydraulic power and cabin pressurization,” George Wainwright, Colson and Colson jet mechanic said. Engine failure is very uncommon in small planes and even more so in airlines.

“The causes are different for different engines, but not as different as some people might expect. For example, all engines, whether turbojet or piston, need fuel, air, and an ignition source to operate. Piston engines need a continuous source of ignition. Turbojet engines just need ignition for start, and are then self-sustaining. Nonetheless, both types of engines can fail with loss of ignition - the loss of ignition may just be caused by different factors. Afterburning turbofan engines can experience situations not found in non-afterburning turbofan engines.
These are most often caused by a pressure spike during afterburner ignition that propagates forward and slows -- or even stops -- the N1 fan blades and results in a situation called stagnation. On the other hand, non-afterburning turbofans can experience compressor stalls which are similar, and even caused by similar pressure spikes -- just the cause of the pressure spike is different. So, different causes like I mentioned -- but not as different as it might initially seem,” Holmes said. “I never had a total engine failure. I experienced a few engine malfunctions, such as afterburner blowouts, compressor stalls, and low oil pressure. Some of those required a precautionary engine shutdown.”

“Pilots actually spend a lot of time training just in case they encounter a problem. They train in the aircraft by simulating an engine failure by reducing engine power to idle this way they can see how the plane is going to handle. On bigger airplanes they still do this but they also train in the simulators every year when they go for training,” Wainwright said.

Pilots try to always be ready for situations like these, even though they rarely happen, it is better to always be prepared.

This Year Christmas will be Ours!
By: Hannah McLaughlin

Producer Tim Burton brings Halloween to life in the dark Claymation animation “The Nightmare before Christmas,” directed by Henry Selic.
It starts out in Halloween Town, at Halloween. Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King, is tired of the same old thing. Sally, who was created by Dr. Finkelstein, feels the same way Jack does.
Jack finds Christmas Town and he loves it. Dr. Finkelstein (William Hickey) lends Jack some supplies to do experiments about Christmas. Jack decides to steal Christmas, but Sally has a vision about Christmas being ruined. Will it really be?
The special effects are interesting and different. Halloween Town is dark and dreary, but Christmas Town has white, red, and green, and was brighter and jollier than Halloween Town.
The camera angles are far and close up, and help see what is going on in the story. They are very good, and useful. They also help set the mood.
This is a good movie, but I would not suggest that young children watch it.

Pumpkin King
Takes Over Christmas
By: Esmeralda Diaz

Tim Burton’s dark comedy for children, “The Nightmare before Christmas” is a great movie for children 10 and up. Henry Selick was the producer of this movie. Danny Elfman and Chris Sarandon both play Jack Skellington, Catherine O’Hara play’s Sally, and William Hickey plays Dr. Finkelstain. This movie takes place in Halloween Town, Christmas Town, and a little bit of the real world.

Jack Skellington is the pumpkin king but he isn’t happy that way, he wants to be something more than that. So he goes into Christmas Town and see’s how everybody is happy there and how nothing is waiting to scare kids under their bed. Everything is colorful. So Jack goes back to Halloween Town and tells everyone about Christmas Town. Soon Jack tries to fiend the meaning of Christmas, and tries to take it over, but Sally tries to stop him.

This movie is basically about Jack trying to take over Christmas, and Sally trying to stop him. This movie is great. If you like songs and Halloween then this is the perfect movie for you. Some of the characters seem mean but actually have feelings like Jack. One of the human conditions in this movie is that Dr. Finkelstain didn’t want Sally to go out and discover what’s out there.

This movie has great camera angles. Some might make you think that Jack is watching you. Once you see what Jack does to take over Christmas I am sure you’ll want to keep watching.

This movie is great and interesting movie for those who like Halloween.

Jack The Pumpkin King Is Tired of Hallowing
By Draven Morehead

Jack The Pumpkin King is tired of being the King of Hallowing and wants something different. He walks into a forest and keeps walking while he’s asleep and fids something new and finds a whole bunch of doors. He is interested in all of them and likes them but one really catches his empty eye socket.

He walks in through it and it was shaped like a Christmas tree the others were shaped like the other holidays. He falls in and he lands in something new like he wanted. There’s snow and colors and everything Christmas would have.

He really likes it and he finds it’s name Christmas town like his town is Hallowing town. He really wants it so he shows it to the citizens of hallowing town by giving them a presentation on Christmas. He doesn’t call Santa Santa Claus but Sandy Claws instead.

He tries to make Christmas and kidnaps Santa and gives him a break. The kidnapers tae him to Oggie Boogie the second meanest monster in town. Oggie was going to kill Him but Sally a doll stalls him.

I won’t tell you f it ends well or if Christmas is a total fail. I think that the movie is very good but for per say a 1 year old it would not be a good movie for it.

Henry Selick directed a dark animated and clay mated children’s comedy. The setting is Halloween town, Christmas town and a little bit of the real world. There are six main characters, Jack Skellington, Sally,The mayor, Evil doctor, Santa, and zero.
In this movie Jack is tired of the same old thing year after year. He wants a change. He finds some doors. On each door is a holiday symbol. He finds one with a tree, and goes in and discovers Christmas town. Once back to Halloween town, a town meeting is called and he announces that they are going to steal Christmas. Sally, who is a ragdoll that an evil doctor made, she’s made out of fabric, stuffing and stitching string, she thinks that stealing Christmas is a bad idea. When Jack is in Christmas town looking under the bed it’s almost as if he’s looking right at you. And lastly when he falls right under the Christmas town sign it feels like you are looking at it too. Some interesting uses of colors made is at Halloween town it’s dark, gloomy, and makes everything look kind of scary and Christmas town is bright, happy, and makes someone feel like they are welcome.Tim Burton producer of this film also did some early short films such as Vincent, and Frankenweenie. Vincent is Tim Burton’s directorial debut. Frankenweenie is the uncut version of Tim Burton’s live-action directorial debut. This movie is a good movie. I would recommend you watch it because it has a little romance, a little singing, and it’s a little scary. So if you like a little bit of all of that then this is the movie.

Nightmare before Christmas
Be careful of Halloween town it might scare you. The nightmare before Christmas is a children’s movie but for bigger children because this movie is pretty spooky. The genre of the movie is animation and claymation. The director of this movie is is Henri Selick and the producer is Tim Burton. Tim Burton is a guy that likes to do movies about black magic and about scary stuff.
This movie is pretty spooky it has a lot of black magic and dark stuff. The claymation is pretty good although in the movie theres a lot of singing and in my opinion it gets really annoying. The main plot was in Halloween town. Halloween town is a dull place everything is black and gray and also scary. But when you go to Christmas town you can see that everything is joyful and cheerful and happy and has lots of color and don’t have heads and skeletons like Halloween town has. The main characters in the movie was in the movie was Jack skelington (Tim Burton) and sally (Catherine). The plot of the movie is that Jack found Christmas town and thought that it was really beautiful and now is trying to steel Christmas town but doesn’t know the meaning of Christmas. In the movie I didn’t see much camera angles but the ones I saw were good.

Super Bowl 45 by Matthew Simpson

Super Bowl 45 was outstanding. The Pittsburg Steelers and the Green bay Packers. In the first half of the game the Packers made two interceptions, and with one of them they made a touchdown. Just before the first interception when they made their first touchdown, the Steelers had to make a 3-point field goal because they could not make a touchdown. The half time show had the Black Eyed Peas, Slash, and Usher. The songs were amazing. One of the songs was “The Time.” The commercials were so funny, like the Doritos commercial where one guy finished his bag Doritos, and another guy comes by and says, “Are you going to finish that?” and the first guy says, “It is already gone,” and then instantly the other man grabs his hand and licks it and says “I love Doritos” and then says “cheese.”
After half time the game completely turned around. The Steelers were making touchdowns. But it looks like the Packers turned around and won the Super Bowl!!!!!After watching the game people could not stop talking about it. Matt is in his mid thirties and he said “I don’t really like football but that was the best game ever.”

Pumpkin King Steals Christmas
By: Chase Lemos
Tim Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas is a claymation children’s movie that is filled with mystery. Henry Selick did an amazing job with character and setting design.

Jack Skellington (Chris Sarandon) is board of the same old thing in Halloween Town. He is the pumpkin king but is tired of doing so well at it. He decides to leave Halloween Town and find something better. Sally ( Cathrine O’Hara) feels like she is trapped and she just wants to be free. Her master, Dr. Finkelstien (William Hickey) doesn’t think she is ready.
This story is obviously lead by song and in every seen you will hear something along the lines of “This is Halloween” or “My Dear Friend”. Whether jack is falling down a hollow tree or looking under a bed you will be truly entertained by all of the fun and odd camera work. This movie is fun and like Halloween and Christmas you will love this movie! I give this movie two bony fingers up!

Orange Jumpsuits, Little Girls and Evil Villains make blockbuster By: Chase Lemos
Chris Renaud’s animated comedy; Despicable Me is a funny and charming kid’s film that is great for all ages.
Gru, (played by Steve Carrel) a super evil villain is passed by and renamed the “old school” villain after a younger villain steals a pyramid. His “trusty” scientist, Dr. Nafario and himself make a plan to steal the moon. But there is a catch… this is when Margo (played by Miranda Cosgrove), Edith and Agnes come in and help them steal a shrink ray that they need for the plan. It gets a little topsey turvey but they all have a fun time along the way. This movie will make you laugh and make you cry. A story that will touch your heart and give you a new found respect for unicorns. This movie is perfect for boys who like shrink rays and girls who like ballet. This movie could go on and on. The fun camera work of rays and roller coasters make you feel like you are in the movie. You will crack up every time you hear Gru’s minions start up a conversation. This movie was a fun loving, family movie that is heart warming and hilarious. You will never forget Gru’s crazy adventure.

Review By Draven Morehead

I would rate the movie Despicable me a 4.5 star movie. It is a child’s comedy movie that is quiet strange. It is about the villain Gru. He is upset that he was put down by a villain that stole the pyramid. He tries to steal something that will put that villain down he wants to shrink the moon and then steal it. The two become rivals.

Gru tries to sneak into Vector’s house (his rivals) and steal back the Shrink Ray. He fails miserably and 3 girls succeed in getting in to sell cookies.

He makes a plan that will take the Shrink Ray away from Vector. I won’t tell you if the plan works or not.

Gru Changes during the time of the plan and Doctor Nefario and doesn’t like it. Gru can’t decide if he wants to steal the moon or go to the girl’s concert.

Anyways the Movie is a very good comedy and I recommend watching it if you like comedies and still have a little childhood in you.

Review By Taylor Null

Chris Renaud made a funny animated comedy called"Despicable Me” Some actors from this film are Steve Carell as Gru, Miranda Cosgrove as Margo, Russell Brand as Dr. Nefario, and Jason Segal as Vector. There are three places that this movie takes place. At the Suburban Setting (NY), Secret lab at Grus house, you get there through a chair, and the bank of evil.
In the beginning we find that the pyramid is stolen, but Gru is not the one who did it, it was a new villain named Vector. Now Gru is in trouble because he is not evil enough. Vector and Gru are trying to be more evil thsn the other by both wanting to steel the moon. But to steel the moon they both need a shrink ray, but Vector stole it from Gru so Gru tries to steel it back but there are so many traps that it’s really hard. But then three girls come along to sell cookies to Vector and they got in. The girl’s names are Margo, Edith and Agnes. Dr. Nefario makes cookie robots and the girls sell Vector the cookie robots, which help him steel the shrink ray back.
I personally thought that this was a cute and funny story. I would say that one of my favorite parts was when Vector shrunk Gru’s ship and it turned tiny. When the minions are playing with the drinking thingy, the thing that when you get your water it gurgles. And when Gru takes the girls to the carnival and Agnes sees the big fluffy unicorn and says “it’s so fluffy I’m going to die!" The thing I liked about the camera angles are a lot of things. Like when the news kept on saying “and what will he do next” the camera was shooting almost diagonally from the top. And the roller coaster felt like you would actually on a roller coaster. And lastly when the girls walk into Gru’s house the camera is shooting from the top.
Some cool sound effects are when Gru tries to steel the shrink ray back and Vector sends out his missiles out to get Gru, when the missiles pop out it’s like a clicking noise. And when Gru has the shrink ray and is hanging over Vector and Vectors shark bangs on the glass, like a thud noise.
The special effects were cool too. Like you would think that Gru’s weapons look like any old weapon but then he actually gets them out and they look giant. The costumes were cool, like the ballet costumes, Vectors suit, and the way Gru always wears black.
I would suggest that you buy the movie because 1. The movie isn’t in the movie theater anymore, and 2. I don’t know if there’s a book. But I would really recommend that you but the movie cause it’s a great movie.

Movie Review By Vanessa

Stealing the moon may not come so easy if you don’t have a loan and a shrink ray!
This is a great movie for the family. Silly villains, cute kids, heart warming story line. Steve Carrel, voice for main character Gru, is hilarious in this action packed kid’s comedy.
Gru wants to be a great villain, but he can’t seem to be successful with any of his ideas. When someone steals a pyramid, its up to Gru to show Dr. Nefario, voice by Russell Brand, that he can do even better by stealing the moon. In hilarious attempts to get a loan from the bank of evil and stealing a shrink ray, Gru comes face to face with the dork who stole the pyramid. A young new villain named Vector, voice by Jason Segel, a nerd who gives Gru a run for his money.
The animations in this movie are hilarious. Gru, for example, has a huge nose with a small head, and a huge body with tiny legs. I found this quite cute throughout the movie. The camera angles are amazing, from the girls perspective looking up at Gru’s huge scary house, to Gru’s perspective on a rollercoaster ride.
Miranda Cosgrove voices as Margo, one of the three orphan girls Gru adopts as part of his plan to steal the moon. Although he falls in love with them and keeps them as his daughters.
I personally thought that Agnes, the smallest of the three girls, was adorable. With her love for unicorns and forceful personality, the little girl was my favorite part of this PG animated comedy.
This is a great movie, you have to see it.

Evil Villain Steels Eiffel Tower(The small one from Vegas)
By: Esmeralda Diaz
Chris Renaud’s animated comedy “Despicable Me” is an all age’s movie. The main actors in this movie are Steve Carell as Gru. Another actor is Miranda Cosgrove as Margo the oldest girl. Then there’s Russell Brand as Dr. Nefario. Finally there is Jason Segal as Vector. The movie takes place in a suburban setting (NY), a secret lab through a chair and the bank of evil. Gru is in trouble because he is not evil enough and a new villain who goes by the name of Vector stole a pyramid. Now Gru had an idea that would make him the greatest villain of all time and the plan was to steel the moon. Then Gru was trying to steel the shrink ray from Vector but it was impossible because he had all sort of traps. But then three little girls came to sell Vector some cookies and they easily got in. So Gru decided to adopt them, and he did, their names were Margo, Edith, and Agnes. Then Dr. Nefario made some cookie robots. When the girls went to sell some cookies some of them were robots and they helped Gru steel the shrink ray.
The movie was basically about a villain who wanted to be the best of all the villains. But then these little girls get involve in his life and everything changes. This movie is hilarious but it’s also very touching. Some of the characters like the minions act like little kids but they are the ones who help Gru steel things so that he can be the best villain. One of the human conditions is that Gru always wanted to go to the moon but his mom said it was too late and she never cared about what he did.
This movie has great camera angles that some of them can make you feel like you are in the movie. Once you hear the minions talk I’m sure you’ll want to laugh.
This movie is a fun, and loving family movie that everybody will enjoy.

Movie Review By Ruben Salvador

Despicable Villain
Be careful at coffee shops Gru might be there. Despicable Me is a comedy movie Steve Carrel played as the evil villain Gru in Despicable Me Miranda Cossgrove played as the big sister in the movie. The main settings in the movie are in Gru’s house, Gru’s house is much different than any other normal house because if you go to Gru’s house you can find lasers guns and big huge missiles as beds! The plot in the movie it is a great story and every thing flows good with the movie. The main conflicts in the movie of Despicable me is that vector (another super villain) stole a pyramid and Gru tries and beat that so he attempts to steal the moon but in his way he finds 3 little girls and starts to like them and might even let his dreams of stealing the moon. In the movie vector is my favorite character because he is rich has cool clothes and has a really cool house. The 3 orphans in the movie make me feel sad because in the movie it shows that nobody likes them not even the manager from the orphanage! The movie Despicable Me is trying to tell us that every body has a good heart not even if you’re a super villain and that in some way very one is a super hero.I think that Gru and my sister are similar because Gru tries to be evil but in the end h ends up doing something good in the movie and my sister is the same way she tries to do something bad and in the end she ends up doing something good.My favorite thing about this movie is that it has lots of good camera angles like in the movie the robot cookies that DR. Nefario made(Grus helper that creates stuff) had a special camera angle when it seemed like you were on top of the cookie. The costumes where good, I personally liked the minians they made me laugh and I liked their costumes and how they looked. To be specific I liked this movie it had all of it, it had action, humor, and emotional parts.

Movie Review By Brandon Altermatt

Despicable Me Movie Review
I liked this movie because it was one of the best I have seen in a while. I especially liked the part where they were riding on a rollercoaster, and the girls were having fun, but Gru (the main character who is supposed to be a super villain) was terrified. Gru is a modern-day super villain, who isn’t as evil as he thinks he is. My favorite characters are the minions (the yellow, potato shaped things) because of their high-pitched voices and childish actions. This movie is about Gru, a super villain who has plans to steal the moon.

His plans are constantly interrupted be Vector, a young, spoiled, high-tech super villain who is attempting to steal Gru’s spotlight. In order to aid Gru’s plans, he adopts three young girls, who end up being more than just a part of his plot. I recommend that you buy a ticket and see it in theaters because this movie rocks!

Renaud makes Big Hit “Despicable Me”
By: Hannah McLaughlin

The animated comedy “Despicable Me” by Chris Renaud was one of the best movies I have ever seen.
Steve Carrel played Gru, the world’s number 2 villain. Gru hatches a plan to steal the moon. Vector (Jason Segel) has stolen the shrink ray from Gru for freezing his head. Gru now has to get the shrink ray back from Vector to steal the moon.
To get the shrink ray back, Gru has Dr. Nefario (Russell Brand) build cookie bots. Gru also adopted the three girls who sold Vector cookies. The cookie bots help Gru steal the shrink ray back. Dr. Nefario sends the girls back to the orphanage because he thought that they were a distraction to Gru. As Gru steals the moon, Vector kidnapped the girls, and will only give them back in exchange for… the moon! Will Gru be willing to give up the moon?
My favorite character is the oldest girl Margo, played by Miranda Cosgrove. She takes care of her siblings and shows Gru how to take care of them. One of the funniest parts of this movie was the Minions. They are easily distracted, and fight over the smallest things.
The special effects and camera angles are amazing. When Gru and the girls are on the roller coaster, I felt like I was there, too. The camera angle was such that it was like I was there.
The lighting is very cool. The whole area where Gru lives is bright, except for his house. It is dark inside and out, so his house is kind of the eyesore of where he lives. There aren’t any costumes, but the animation is spectacular.
This is a must-see movie. It is very funny, and done very well

Review By Michael Soto

Despicable me
This movie is about a supervillain who is forced to live with three little girls Margo (Miranda Crossgrove) Edith (Dana Gaier) and Agnes (Elise fisher) to make a plot to steal the moon and become the world’s greatest super villain, especially better than the fancy orange “warm-up suit” guy, aka Vector(oh yeah). Gru (Steve Carell) is the old fashion super villain with a huge black car and old torture weapons in his house where as Vector has a shark and all kinds of defenses like boxing gloves.
